One day, I ran across a link for a contest Metro Transit held which was open to designers of all kinds. Our mission was to create a poster (adhering to a few guidelines), which told the story of the planned celebration.
My approach was to use a layering technique that I'd been using in my work with indie artists to make a poster design that was unique and bold. Merging in elements from Metro Transit's branding to make it easy to sell prints in their online store, and creating a map using icons created by a partner site geared towards keeping businesses going through construction of the line.
This poster takes my expressiveness (a requirement for the contest), Metro Transit's assets/style (an executive decision of mine) and seeks to honor community while celebrating a huge milestone.
That one time I was in a pinned tweet on Metro Transit's Twitter feed
This poster was sold in the Metro Transit store for a short period of time. Pretty cool, no?
